Athena is located in a NOVA foster home.

Athena has quite a story:

Abandoned with her 10 pups in Puerto Rico in the middle of a violent rain storm, she was rescued by a good samaritan who took them inside to safety. Traveling up to Virginia in 2019, she found a wonderful home with a family that loved her very much. 4 years later, her family had a small human of their own, and Athena did not do well adjusting as they became mobile. She is the PERFECT dog other then her food guarding and resource guarding. It is just not compatible for a home with young kids who do not understand to leave her alone while eating or chewing on something valuable. She is GREAT with kids as long as they know to stay away from her favorite snacks. Perhaps it is a reflex after being homeless for so long!! She IS fine with adults manipulating her food.

She is residing with the families good friend in foster, while we try to find her the perfect family!!!

She would do great for a family of kids 10+, who know when to leave her alone, and that will not bother her while eating or with a valuable chew.

She is physically healthy, though a pesky floating kneecap can sometime bother her if she's been running around a LOT.

She really loves people the best, but has canine friends as well. She does great with other pups as long as they do not have TOO much energy and do not get in her face a bunch (but who likes that anyways??)

She is housetrained, and does just fine being left on her own for long periods of time.

Her favorite activity is swimming, car rides, and playtime with humans.

The adoption fee for this dog is $475. This fee DOES INCLUDE spay/neuter and microchip.
